And it's for every nameless, faceless woman of color that now has a chance because this door tonight has been opened. “

In 2002, Halle Berry became the first black woman in Academy history to win Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in “Monster’s Ball.” So far, she’s the only Black woman to have received this honor.
